Gloom, Despair, and Agony

“If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me.” First, do you know where that came from? Second, if you do, we won’t talk about age. However, does that sum up the way anyone feels tonight?

Several people I know have it pretty tough right now. Many of my loved ones are suffering at this moment. The troubles range from health issues, surgeries, horrible prognosis, depression, fear, anger, marital difficulties, and financial burdens to hard core spiritual warfare.

If you are not experiencing a storm in life at this time or don’t know of anyone who is, turn on the news and watch for five minutes. You’ll either get angry or weep. What’s wrong with this world today?

The same thing that was wrong at the beginning of time. Let’s call it what it is! The devil wanted to be higher than Almighty God. Since that’s not happening, like EVER, he was cast out of Heaven and  destined to a fiery hell for all eternity. Now the enemy hates the children of God and furthermore, will do anything to try and kill us.

That’s why we have trouble my friends. Remember though, just like when Jesus was being tortured, things seemed dark and hopeless. That’s the way we may feel at times, but God said in Romans 8:28, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

When Jesus was killed it may have seemed like the end, just as your situation seems to leave you feeling like you’re hanging on the end of your rope for dear life. But what happened on the third day? The chains and bondage of sin and death were conquered by our powerful Savior. All of those terrible things that happened to our Lord turned out great!

God fulfilled his promise of working all things for the good. That, my friends, is what He is doing in our lives right now. Nothing will have been in vain. All things, God will use for the betterment of us. We can count on it! So hold on tight and trust God with all your heart until the rain stops and the sun breaks through the clouds. And remember Psalm 30:5,…..Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.
