What’s on Your Mind?

“Hey Lisa. How are you feeling?” “I’m here!” That was the conversation between my boss and me as I walked into work a few days ago.

I noticed a puzzled look on his face after my remark. That look stayed with me all day. I thought about what my boss must have been thinking .

I’ve had stomach issues for several weeks and my co-workers care enough to keep up with how I’m feeling. How dare I give an answer like I gave my boss that particular day? As I pondered that puzzled look, God let me see myself through my  boss’s eyes and I was disgusted with what I saw.

My attitude had become awful due to my health issues and I had to make a change. I had two options: I could spew my yucky – yuck on everyone around me or I could make a decision to be positive.

Being positive doesn’t come naturally to any of us since the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. It’s a choice we must make everyday.

God teaches us how to make good decisions in Romans 12:2, Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

There is going to be trouble in the world, but it’s completely up to us how we react to it. If we practice positive thinking instead of allowing lies from the enemy to overwhelm us to the point of spewing negativity onto everyone around us, it will get easier to keep the good thoughts going.

God loves us enough to show us the way to train our thoughts to stay out of the pit of darkness where the enemy would like them to remain: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Philippians 4:8 (NIV.)
