The Last Sip

I didn’t hear about Orlando’s massive shooting until last night. As my niece gave me the major details, I searched the internet for the full story.

Shooting

Apparently as patrons were finishing their last drinks before closing, in a night club, a gunman came in and opened fire beginning the end to numerous lives. Many families  were left with a loved one missing. Hearts were broken. Sadness set in. Someone took away a part of another’s life.

People                                   People sad

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139: 13 (NLT.)
Jesus knew every soul who lost their lives, plus the number of hairs on their heads. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30 (NLT.) We can’t judge them for what they were doing nor what they claimed to be. Everyone sins, just differently.

Now, this may come as a shock, but God also loved the gunman. For God does not show favoritism. Romans 2:11 (NLT.) Just as all of the lives that were taken by this man, we must wonder if he knew God, too. We can read what the internet has for us to read or listen to what others have to say, but no one really knows which victims or if the perpetrator knew God – who entered the Kingdom of Heaven and who did not.

As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous–not even one. Romans 3:10 (NLT.)
I could say I hate the terrorist, the gay and lesbian community, the alcohol, the night club, or the gun, but isn’t that what started all of the terror? HATE? Yes, it is. We can read in God’s Word that Satan was an angel but he wanted to be God, so God threw him out of Heaven and now the enemy exists only to terrorize us. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1  Peter 5:8 (NLT.)

Wow! That’s a lot to think about; however all true. How do we stop these hate crimes and terrorists attacks? WE can’t! But LOVE can! And God is love.

Bible

God is not going to be present where He is not wanted. So I pray for our children and grandchildren and the future to come that everyone will turn away from evil. God made us a promise if we do: Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT.)

  1. I love that you remind us all – even Christians that none of us are good enough to get into heaven… not a single one of us. Sometimes Christians forget that… we forget that we are only sinners saved by grace. We forget we are no better than the least of these
