Here we are in November already. This year is slowly fading before us. It’s an exciting time though. Soon we will celebrate Thanksgiving, and next month, the birth of our Lord Jesus.
I believe all of us could make a list full of things to be thankful for. How about the things we don’t consider a blessing? I can think back to times in my life when I didn’t necessarily like the circumstances that surrounded me. But now I consider, if I could just go back to those times with the knowledge that I have now, I would know better what to do. What does that tell me? I wouldn’t have the knowledge to do better if I hadn’t experienced the unpleasant circumstances.
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT. Maybe this verse can help us with the bleak times that leave us feeling hopeless with no way out. Perhaps we are where we are right now because God has something new for us to learn; to add to our knowledge bank.
