Follow the Leader

Men, God has given you great responsibility. He made you, ‘head of the household.’

I know it’s probably a difficult title to have; nevertheless, great rewards will follow if you obey God. The ‘man of the house’ isn’t just:

A trash taker-outer

An act like you’re listening to the wife when she vents person

A holder of shopping bags

A go to the store for one item at the last minute person

A scare me to death driver (that applies to my husband)

No way!! Those tasks would be easy. You’re much more than that. You’re priceless to your family.

God gives all of us the answer in Ephesians 5:23-30, For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. (Oh MY GOSH, there’s that word…’submit.’) For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to Himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. (NLT)

See, men are to do so much more. This is a perfect picture of how husbands and wives should act toward each other.

In today’s world, this is an extremely controversial passage of Scripture. (Please don’t send me nasty messages…lol) Wives typically do not like the words, ‘submit to your husbands.’ And men usually only read that part.

There it is, taken right from the Bible. God’s Words.

Controversial? Maybe. But if we would only follow Jesus, the Leader, marriages would be healthier, happier, and last longer.

Thank you, Sam Bell, for making our home a loving picture of God’s Word.
