Stop Fighting…Please

Over two thousand years ago, the battle started. Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, and did exactly what God told them not to do. Why did the first two people God created disobey Him? I believe we all know the answer to that; the enemy.  Satan was first an angel, but he wasn’t satisfied, he wanted to be god. That was NEVER going to happen. However, that is where all of the fighting begins.

We’re all in a battle every day, if we are Christ followers. Some days the struggles are subtle; thoughts go through our mind that are not true. An example of this is, “I feel worthless, because I haven’t accomplished anything special in my life.” If you think that, don’t believe it, because its a LIE!!! A simple act of treating someone kindly could be the turning point in their life. That person may be on their way to commit suicide, but realized there are still good people on earth. We never know what affect the words of our mouths or our actions have on the people we come in contact with on a daily basis.

Other times the enemy comes at us with hardcore battles. A co-worker doesn’t like you, and its blatantly apparent. That person makes your life miserable every day. You bite your tongue so much that it almost falls completely out of your mouth. You are extra nice to them thinking that it will turn them around to becoming your friend. Most of the time I’ve found, if someone treats you badly for no reason and doesn’t want to have a discussion about a problem that may be at the root, it’s because they are jealous of you. That means we do what only God can do through us, be nice no matter what.

The problems and struggles are not about a man that feel so disparate that he wants to take his own life or a co-worker that has no confidence in herself. The fighting exist because the enemy hates us because we are God’s children. Battles have nothing to do with the above scenarios or any other that you have encountered. They are between the Almighty and the one that wanted to be the almighty.

The day that we can wrap our minds around this completely is that day that we can take on the trials of life with the knowledge that the fighting has nothing to do with us. This truth can give us renewed strength, if we grab on to it.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” I don’t know about you, but that about sums it up for me. The Bible starts with Jesus creating heaven, earth, us, and everything else. And if you’ve never read the Bible, Jesus won!!!!!!!
