Partners for life consist of 3 people; the two that want to marry each other and God. My question for you is, how can a marriage survive without the Lord?
The world seems to revolve around work, kids, money, school and many other factors. None are bad things unless you put them before God. I was given the good advice years ago of reading 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible. This verse is referred to as the “love” chapter; perfect for a marriage. The verse gives difficult instructions, at least for us humans. From verse 4, “Love suffers long”, from verse 7, “(Love) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”. I admit that I am the first one to groan at, “suffering long”. Sorry, I’m only made of dirt from the ground.
I believe that unless you have made a commitment to love your spouse through the things mentioned in the verses above, your marriage won’t survive life on this earth. And the only way to make it through suffering, bearing, and enduring is Jesus, right in the middle of the two of you.
Whether your relationship is in trouble or going smoothly, you need to give your marriage to the Lord, fresh and new each day. If you need to write down one of the verses from the Love Chapter so that you can see it all day, do it, to remind yourself what areas you need to work on and what you need to pray about.
The Scripture also reads, “Love never fails”. I believe with all of my heart that true love never dies. The reason I believe this is because, God is Love!!!!
